Aftercare Program Supervisor
Aftercare Program Supervisor Position Description
Responsible for the well-being of students in the after care and/or intersession care program, River Crew. This part-time position reports to the River Crew Coordinator and School Director. General availability required: various days Monday through Friday from approximately 2:00pm - 6:00pm and during school breaks (Spring Break, non-school days i.e. Teacher Work Days).
Responsible for the well-being of students in the after care and/or intersession care program, River Crew. This part-time position reports to the River Crew Coordinator and School Director. General availability required: various days Monday through Friday from approximately 2:00pm - 6:00pm and during school breaks (Spring Break, non-school days i.e. Teacher Work Days).
Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
- Monitor and observe the daily operation of after care for safety, positive interaction and productive educational activity
- Collaborate with River Crew Coordinator to develop, prepare and implement plans appropriate to children and time of the year
- Maintain a stimulating educational environment, directing children in a positive and respectful environment
- Maintain a friendly, pleasant, and positive demeanor with children and parents, understanding and working in a Montessori manner
- Apply knowledge of sound early childhood and elementary education development concepts and principles within the Montessori goals and philosophy
- Report problems or progress and suggestions to the Teachers for improvement and possible corrective action
- Participate in monthly planning sessions with Director or as required
- Direct activities as assigned by the River Crew Coordinator or Director
- At end of day, prepare children for transition from school to home
- At closing, close down for the following day.
- Communicate with parents/guardians, and teachers regarding child’s daily activities.
- Notify Director of unusual circumstances to include infectious disease, injury, illness and accident
- Complete required reports related to accidents and injuries in accordance with school policies.
- Attend seminars, conferences, in-service training, staff meetings and parent/guardian meetings as directed by Director.
- Ensure all River Crew supplies are sufficient and report additional supplies needed to the Director
- Clean and sanitize all materials and apparatuses on a weekly basis, if used.
- Adhere to state and government regulations appropriate to school operational procedures
- Maintain a neat and orderly room to include dusting and vacuuming as necessary
- Coordinate with Guides (Teachers) for homework, tutoring, student educational needs and extra curricular activities
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Experience with children
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Successful applicants must have clear (or negative) TB and pass criminal background check
- Public Montessori experience and Child Development credits preferred
- Spanish fluency a plus
