Mr. Cooper's Music at River
Music Muse at the River
Justin practices at the piano in our music room at noon recess. Notice the relaxed body, and focused concentration. Justin has been playing piano for about four years. He is a star role-model student in Mr. Cooper's Tuesday-at-one music class. Justin leads by example, always ready for whatever might happen next. He enjoys quiet moments like this with a freshly tuned piano.
Justin is not alone, there are many talented students at River Montessori that have also taken music lessons for many years.

Carl Orff meets Maria Montessori
Mr. G's class makes music on Metaliphones, Xylophones, and conga drums. Alexander leads the ensemble with the Guiro, while Amina joins the drummers with a Dunbek. These mallet percussion instruments were invented by Carl Orff specifically for young students "such as those at the Montessori schools".
Mr. Cooper's WISH LIST
1) A sound system for the music room: either a stereo system, or a really nice boom-box.
( the boom-box in our storage office does not play CD's)
I would like to thank Hannah's parents, Garrett and Laura for loaning us a drum set, and even
more than I had asked for; a guitar and violin!!
WOW !!!
Thanks guys!

Rockin' on the River
Gillian, from Mrs. Peake's fourth grade rocks out on the drum set. She also plays guitar, sings, and takes a go at all the weird things Mr. Cooper puts in front of everyone.
River Montessori sings "Light a Candle for Peace"
The first week of school, all of my students learned their first song, in one rehearsal! The next time they saw me, we performed in front of the whole world. We have now joined many other Montessori schools by posting our performance on the web. Now you can see the performance by going to the following address: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49lTrLwjGPw&feature=channel_page
