Physical Education and Movement Coordinator
We are seeking a Physical Education & Movement Coordinator to setup and facilitate physical education classes. The position could be ideal for a current Kinesiology Major interested in Physical Education seeking to build his/her resume in their field of study. This position can be combined with other part-time positions at River Montessori for more hours (i.e. after school care or teaching assistant) or as a stand alone position.
The Physical Education & Movement Coordinator will work with the Executive Director to implement a physical education curriculum and will be responsible for conducting physical education classes. As necessary, the Physical Education & Movement Coordinator may work with the River Montessori Charter School (RMCS) Board of Directors, the school district, students, parents, and community members and other governing bodies specified by local and state law. This position reports to the Executive Director.

Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for setting up classroom environment and conducting Physical Education & Movement classes.
- Understanding and promoting the school’s vision, mission, and goals to students, parents, and community.
- Working with the community of administrators, teachers, parents, students, and board of directors, in articulating and maintaining the integrity and scope of the Montessori method.
- Working with students of varying abilities assigned to the classroom, including those with learning difficulties as diagnosed, as well as attending meetings to support children who require it.
- Maintaining student records, reports, evaluations, inventories, and tests as required.
- Attending board meetings, committee, and any other meetings relevant to teaching at RMCS as necessary.
- Continuing professional development and participating in recommended conferences, training programs, courses, and other areas of professional growth.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements for Physical Education and Movement Coordinator
- General availability in the afternoons Mon-Thu from approximately 12:45pm - 2:45pm and preparation time (for a total of 6-7 hours/week with a potential for growth)
- The 2012-13 school year begins July 25, 2012, please apply immediately (start date will be determined upon hire)
- Kinesiology Major helpful (Junior or Senior level status or partial completion of Upper Division coursework required)
- First Aid/CPR required (or willingness to obtain)
- Successful applicants must have clear (or negative) TB and pass criminal background check
- Experience working with children, coaching, teaching exercise classes or other physical education course preferred
- Public Montessori experience & Spanish fluency a plus
